John

A picture of John, one of the Future You coachesI recently came across a quote by Joan Baez that made me stop and think, perhaps it will do the same for you.

"You don't get to choose how you're going to die. Or when. You can decide how you're going to live now."

Values are important to me.

With every step along the path of life we all face choices and decisions and from each step we learn more about ourselves and thus prepare for the future. On my path I have faced many difficult decisions, some have been life changing, but in making them I have always tried to honour my values.
I wasn't born with a ready made package of values but like everyone else I collected and refined them along the way. My parents gave me my first set of values and even though I was too young to realise what they meant initially, time and experience have given me the understanding that they formed a strong foundation on which I have eventually built my own.
When I look at some of my key values now, which include; integrity, honesty, a strong sense of fair play and a need to always give my best, I realise that my Father had similar values and I am grateful for that, because they have made me who I am today.

My path to coaching.

For many years I have enjoyed giving help to those around me, from teaching Judo as a young man through being a Sea Scout leader and then at work, training and mentoring my peers, graduates and young trainees. It is this natural desire in me to see others develop and reach their full potential that has led me into professional coaching.
Over the years at work I have taken many courses each one widening my professional knowledge in industry and also extending my people skills generally. I enjoyed using my people skills to pass on knowledge to others.

I was coached into coaching.

I was listening to the radio on my way home from work when a local station featured a life coach. Each week the coach demonstrated how coaching was helping people to build and develop and he offered simple steps that gave listeners the opportunity to make changes in their lives and this listener, me, was sufficiently impressed to find out more, so I arranged a coaching session with him.

I was taught to be cautious

I had originally inherited from my Father a cautious nature but over time I have explored and taken risks, but it was at my first coaching session that I realised that to become a coach myself and to start my own business, I had to take a risk and climb out of my rut, life was going to change.

Professional coach training

I like to do things properly, so I needed to find the best professional coach training that suited my personality and met my goals. The coach I visited had trained with the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and I checked them out first, I also investigated other coach training organisations in the UK , but in the end I returned to the CTI. Some of the organisations I looked at were little more than internet based self training schemes and I wanted to train with real people and with an organisation that provided structured learning with careful supervision and accountability, but above all I wanted to learn from people who shared in my belief that honouring ones personal values is a key to how we live, the CTI fit the bill perfectly.

Training with the CTI.

What I think sets the CTI above all other's, is that they are a long established institute and have a reputation as world leaders in coach training. They train coaches in a workshop environment that is supervised and led by highly experienced coach leaders. CTI training enables the coach to develop under personal guidance and supervision bringing a wealth of experience to our clients. Above all and what is fantastic about the CTI, is their Co-Active coaching model. The CTI teach how to coach the whole person and maintain that the client being coached is, naturally creative, resourceful and whole.

If you want to find out more visit our, "what is coaching" page or visit the CTI website; http://www.thecoaches.com.

The future.

So, after training with the CTI, I am now trying to show the world how powerful Co-Active coaching is and I really enjoy sharing the journey with my clients as we both travel into our future.
