Being creative is important to me
In my soul I am a creative person who enjoys seeing people develop their potential and fortunately through life's ups and downs, and there have been a few, I have always worked in areas where I have been able to honour both these values.
I bring a wealth of experience to our coaching practice not only from the world of work but also from my life.
I enjoy creating things, sometimes I say that my hands think for themselves; currently I am working on a stained glass window for our front door. I love to cook for friends and enjoy having a really good laugh about silly things, but I also like "me" time and simple things bring joy, just sitting with my cat on my lap or noticing something naturally beautiful like a sunset.
Getting the right balance
I haven't always had a good work life balance, often trying to fit too much into too few hours, what with the pressure of a full-time job, caring for my mother and my step children and, trying to find quality time with John. I wasted precious energy on getting annoyed over trivial things and I was constantly running to keep up.
But surviving breast cancer closely followed by the death of my mother and John having a serious motorbike accident made me realise there was more to life. It was a turning point. Initially I lost my confidence and lost direction, I knew things had to change, but wasn't sure how. I was scared to take control of my life and waited five years to find the answer. It was at this time that I experienced the power of coaching and found the courage to commit to a better life.
Work life balance
Coaching had such a beneficial influence that John and I decided to train together to become coaches so that we could share what we had gained. We chose the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and I am glad that we did we have met some amazingly dedicated people and in 2005 we founded "Future You" our coaching company. I now have work-life balance and it is my mission to bring Co-Active coaching to you so that you do not waste precious time as I did.
Who would have thought that in my late fifties I would find such a satisfying new beginning and work life balance.
Please don't wait too long to fly.
